Welcome to the photographic world of Stan Harter. As a wildlife biologist with Wyoming Game & Fish Department, I have a dream job. Based in Lander, Wyoming, I work in a district of over 3,600 square miles along the historic Oregon Trail from Independence Rock to the Continental Divide in the southern Wind River Mountains. I work mostly with elk, moose, mule deer, pronghorn, and sage grouse, but consider all wildlife as part of my responsibility. Some of the photos featured here are from my travels while working, yet most are from my numerous excursions around Wyoming and the West.
